If your budget allows you to buy only 1 book, get this handbook.

This is a classic for bedside pediatrics. It was originally created by residents so definitely targeted for residents.

It is concise, easy to carry around and very easy to use.

Newer versions also have e-book capabilities that give you access to search online.

This was beneficial for me to read and highlight on the go too.

This book is great for learning a lot about Pediatric fundamentals.

While you may require quick bedside review, you also need to understand the basics of a lot of pediatrics physiology, anatomy and pathology. If you think you have gaps in this education, I recommend you invest in the book and review a few chapters to help you get started.

I purchased this book and used it to read up patients I cared for while I was on the floor. Great for preparing you for questions on rounds. Amazing for PICU rotations (typically in 2nd adn 3rd year)

Options exist to rent or buy (hard cover versus ebook)

This is a great resource for pediatric residency training.

Based on your previous training, you may or may not have seen a lot of pathology. This book has great images and also helps with physical examination.

However, this is not a ‘must buy’. A lot of pediatric programs already have this book on their floors and resident lounges.

I would suggest reviewing it when you see it, to help expand your visual knowledge.

This is available as both an online resource and a hard copy journal to every pediatric resident

Residency programs are expected to enroll its residents as members of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

This is a monthly subscription journal which is a great up-to-dat resource. I would recommend reading the case reports in the journal monthly

It definitely helps expand your wealth of pediatric knowledge of pathology.

You don’t purchase this. It is supposed to be made available to you

As an AAP member, you are entitled to have access to this at a more subsidized rate.

These questions are targeted at preparing you for your final Pediatric board reivew

However, every year Pediatric residents sit for an in-training exam and this prepares you for that too.

If you learn more based on MCQs, this resource is for you

This is the hub for all evidence based medical search you want to do.

It can be overwhelming to research on the site if you have never used it before. I will recommend starting with others and asking senior colleagues to teach you how to use this.

If you have never heard of this resource, you wil use it a lot.

This is a great resource for all up to date information. However, it is subscription based and available to most (if not all) residency programs.

It is much easier to search but not as comprehensive as pub-med
